The Alto Minho has immense tourism potential that stems from its geography: it lies in a region of Portugal privileged by its landscape, its connection to the sea, and the richness of its traditions and culture.

The Peneda-Gerês National Park offers a lush green landscape with spring-water torrents and stunning flora and fauna. The sea, too, gifts us unique beaches and views, allowing water sports and unforgettable summer days. And finally the people — the Minhotos, warm and hospitable — who, beyond their centuries-old traditions, offer a vast programme of cultural events, festivals and pilgrimages, and a gastronomy unique in the world.

Arcos de Valdevez sits inland in this region, and it is there that much of this appeal comes to life. A welcoming, friendly town in constant connection with its river and its mountains, which hide unique spots reached by the many trails that cross them.

Carvalha House is right here! Just 200 metres from the mouth of the River Vez and the Sistelo eco-trail, it enjoys panoramic mountains, the sound of the flowing river and the liveliness of the birdsong.
