Thanks to its location in the middle of the <strong>Peneda-Ger\u00eas National Park (PNPG)<\/strong>, Snowfall phenomena are becoming more and more frequent, creating scenes that attract residents, regional visitors and nature lovers. The images shared on social networks and by local and national media reinforce this growing interest, especially among families looking for winter experiences; photographers and content creators; and lovers of hiking in mountainous environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Snow has been present in several higher-altitude parishes, especially:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gavieira<\/strong>, where recent episodes have left landscapes completely painted in white, creating an \u201cenchanting mantle\u201d that stretched across fields and rooftops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>S\u00e3o Bento do Cando<\/strong>, with significant accumulations that caught the attention of thousands of Internet users.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Branda da Bou\u00e7a dos Homens<\/strong>, The event also saw heavy precipitation and accumulations, making it one of the municipality's highlights for snow-watching.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure The \u201cEnchanted Forest\u201d, one of the iconic natural spots, became a real winter postcard that attracted visitors from all over the region. Social networks have played an essential role in spreading the word about the phenomenon, multiplying photographs and videos that have further boosted spontaneous tourism. <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to Arcos de Valdevez, other parts of Alto Minho - such as Melga\u00e7o and Castro Laboreiro - also experience frequent snowfall, helping to consolidate the region as a winter destination. The combination of mountains, unspoiled nature and occasional snow creates a unique tourism product that is valued by both national and international visitors. The Nevosa peak is an important example of this attraction, as it is the second highest point in mainland Portugal, part of the Serra do Ger\u00eas - PNPG, in the municipality of Montalegre.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the increase in visits to mountain areas, the call for caution, moderate driving and, when necessary, the use of snow chains; all-wheel drive vehicles; respect for road closures or restrictions and avoiding unnecessary travel during episodes of accumulation and ice cannot be stressed enough. The Arcos de Valdevez Volunteer Fire Brigade has been carrying out regular road-clearing operations and laying salt, guaranteeing circulation on the worst-affected roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The phenomenon of snow can be used strategically by the municipality and the Alto Minho region, through the creation of <strong>winter routes and viewpoints<\/strong>; promotion of organized activities: snowshoeing, nature photography, themed visits; enhancement of the <strong>soft<\/strong> as traditional spaces with increased interest when covered in snow and reinforcing the offer of local accommodation and restaurants during the cold months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Snow in the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez and the Alto Minho has gone from being a rare phenomenon to becoming part of the region's seasonal identity. The natural beauty of the Peneda-Ger\u00eas National Park, combined with growing digital promotion, makes this territory a privileged destination for winter experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the right promotion and safety strategies, snow can be consolidated as a tourist attraction that enhances the natural heritage and boosts the local economy without compromising the environmental values that define the region.
